Dr. Agnes “Aggie” McDonald died on Friday, March 18, 2016 at her home in Jackson. Visitation hours will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Funeral services will be at Chancellor Funeral Home at 11am with visitation one hour prior on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Burial will follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park Cemetery. Aggie McDonald was born on 11/15/1941 in Terry, MS. She was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie Lee McDonald Grantham. She was a 1962 graduate of Gilfoy School of Nursing and received further health related degrees (BSN, MSN, and Phd). She was certified in Nursing Administration by ANA. She was a longtime member of MNA, ANA, and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. She was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who of American Nursing and Who’s Who of Professionals. She was an active RN for over 50 years. She was a pioneer in home health care having served in some capacity for over 25 years. During that time, she was the author of the rough draft of the licensure regulations for home care agencies in MS. She served for eight years with Family Health Care Clinic Organization that provided primary health care to uninsured and underinsured individuals. She was a long time member of Woodville Heights Baptist Church and is currently a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, James McDonald, and sister, Alma G. Basden of Brandon. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Allen McDonald; son, John Jr. (Lee Ellen) McDonald of Tylertown; daughter, Angela (Darryll) Bates of Richland; daughter-in-law, April McDonald of Richland; nephew, Fred (Mara) McAdams of Poqouson, VA; niece, Sandra (Wayne) Westmoreland of Brandon; and granddaughters, Morgan Bates and Victoria McDonald of Richland.
