“Andrew” Randall Carroll, 31, passed away suddenly of heart failure Saturday, May 26, 2018 at University Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 5pm-8pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence and again 10am Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday at Briar Hill with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Andrew was born January 26, 1987 and was a lifelong resident of the Richland area. He was a unique individual who enjoyed traveling, reading and was a collector of ALL things. He was an Eagle Scout, history buff, and a Spanish teacher at McLaurin Attendance Center in Florence and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. He had made several mission trips and enjoyed sharing his love for the Lord. Andrew loved to make people laugh, his family said he was a prankster at heart In 1992 Andrew was blessed to become the first pediatric heart transplant recipient at UMC. He was preceded in death by his uncle Tim Dortch, and a nephew, Connor Carroll. He leaves behind his loving family, his parents, father William Randall Carroll, mother and step-father, Tammy and Bailey Smith, one brother, Matthew Carroll and his wife Lauren, grandparents, Ruby Dale and Harvey Dortch and William and Carole Carroll, uncles, Jason Dortch, and Derek Carroll, aunt, Pam Dortch, step brother, Jacob Smith (Ashley), step sister Candace Parker (Bryan), two nieces and a nephew he loved to aggravate, Shaleigh Carroll, Kadance Walton, and Mason Smith, cousin Carlie Dortch, close friends, Doris Graham and Rick Brown, extended family and a host of friends. The family would like to thank the UMC Transplant Unit and the Cardiology Department for their loving care shown to Andrew, and Andrew’s donor family, but most of all want to praise God for the years HE gave them with Andrew. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Blaire E. Batson Hospital in Jackson.
