Mrs. Arlene Roberts

Arlene “Granny” Sistrunk Roberts, 87, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Thursday, January 10 at First Pentecostal Church of Jackson with visitation 10am-11am at the church. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Mrs. Roberts was born in Sebastopol, MS to the late Ollie Lee Sistrunk and Annie Mae Purvis Sistrunk. Having lived in Jackson since 1949, she retired as Executive Secretary from Consolidated American Life Insurance. She then worked with Mississippi Children’s Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Roberts was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family and others. She was a faithful, charter member of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dan Roberts. Survivors include her daughters, Robin Lowery (Danny) of Pelahatchie and Dana Byrd (Kip) of Columbia, MS; brothers, Devon Sistrunk of Byram and Jerry Sistrunk of Florence; sister, Shirley Kemp of Carthage; grandchildren: Ben (Jamie) Lowery, Blake (Krystal) Matthews, Emilee (Derek) Peoples and Brady (Morgan) Lowery; great grandchildren, Isabella, Ava and Charlie Matthews, Landon & Judah Lowery and Shevy, Afton & Oliver Peoples, Banks & Barron Lowery.
