Axel Bickel, age 75, born July 3, 1941 in Gelnhausen, Germany, departed this earthly life to his heavenly home on November 14, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Anna Bickel, and his sister Christa Bobst. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Peggy Clements Bickel, and step-son, Vic Puckett (Sandy), grandchildren, Haley and Bransen Puckett, his nephews and niece Mark Bobst (Linda), Tawnya Bobst, and Clark Bobst. He also leaves behind his great-nephews, Dustin Bobst (Christina) and Joshua Bobst, and his great, great niece Jamie Bobst. Axel had his own shop working on Mercedes vehicles on Raymond Road, Axel’s German Imports, for many years. After retiring he formed Bickelhaus Kennels, which became his passion, working with local law enforcement training and supplying dogs for bomb and narcotic searches. He served a brief tour in Vietnam and during his lifetime lived various places on different continents, ending up in Jackson, MS where he met the love of his life. He was a really good storyteller – and loved to embellish on his experiences. Axel had many loving friends – too numerous to mention – and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved his church, Utica Christian Church, and all the people in it. Thank you to all our friends for your loving support, calls, food, prayers, and visits. He truly will be missed by many. There will be a celebration of his life at the Utica Christian Church, November 20, 2016. Visitation at 2:00, service at 3:00. Donations may be made to the Utica Christian Church in his memory.
