Barbara Jean Kilpatrick Ray, 88, passed away from this world to be in the presence and glory of the living God on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at The Blake Assisted Living Community in Flowood. Visitation is from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31st at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, with a graveside service immediately following at 3:30 p.m. at the Terry Cemetery. Ms. Ray was born and raised in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana and graduated from High School in Arcadia, Louisiana. Ms. Ray moved to Terry, Mississippi in 1960 and worked as an assistant at WSLI radio and WJTV channel 12 of Jackson in the early 1960s and several years later at Sellers Motor Company in Jackson. Ms. Ray joined Herrin- Gear Chevrolet in 1974 and served in several positions and capacities in the parts department, including inventory control, cash management, and assistant to the parts department manager, before retiring in late 1998 with over 24 years of service. Ms. Ray set a lasting example for others to follow with her consistent and strong professional work ethic and dedication. Ms. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church Terry. Ms. Ray was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Tommie A. Ray; daughter, Wanda Faubion; granddaughter, Tammy Johnson; infant brother, Jewel L. Kilpatrick Jr. and brother Billy J. Kilpatrick; and sisters, Margaret McKinney and Lawana Johnson. Ms. Ray is survived by son, Scott Stringer (Charlotte) of Flowood; brother, Bobby R. Kilpatrick (Pat) of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Laura Schnick (Brian) of Walla Walla, Washington, Morgan Walker (Jonathan) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sam Stringer of Flowood, and Wesley Stringer of Flowood; and great-grandchild, Emily Jackson (Garrett) of Omaha, Nebraska.
