Barbara Dell Sills, born on February 10, 1930, in Beach, Mississippi to Clyde and Virgie Chambers, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Raymond, Mississippi. A beloved figure in her community and a devoted family member, Barbara leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, love, and service.

For many years, Barbara dedicated herself to her role as the gift shop manager at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), where she was known not only for her managerial skills but also for her warm and caring demeanor. A true role model, she exemplified the qualities of a gracious lady and a devout Christian, living out her faith through her actions and words. Soft-spoken and gentle, Barbara believed in the power of being a true example of Christ, never raising her voice to another and demonstrating grace to those around her.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a guiding light for many women of all ages, inspiring them to embody the principles of Godliness and kindness. She dedicated herself to looking after the needs of others before her own, viewing her role as a caretaker as a true calling. With her unwavering faith, Barbara instilled the values of empathy and selflessness in her daughters, teaching them through her actions the beauty of giving to others.

She took great joy in participating in church activities, ensuring she was present any time the doors were open. Her deep love for the Lord and her commitment to her faith were evident in all aspects of her life. Barbara often enjoyed having lunch and engaging with her ladies' group from church, offering encouragement and camaraderie that enriched the lives of those around her. She was well known for her homemade chocolate pies and if you were fortunate enough to try one, you knew exactly why they were so coveted. Truly baking with her heart, a labor of love. She will be remembered as a blessing to many over the years.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Kay Carmical (Ronnie) of Terry and Nan Henry (John) of Terry; her sister, Charlotte Parkman of Mooreville; and her brother, Randy Chambers (Marsha) of Forkville. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Rhonda Russum (Josh), Cindy Hall (Mike), Amy Odom (Stevie), Matthew Henry, Amber Walker, and David Henry; as well as seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William Clyde Chambers and Virgie Powell Chambers; her husband, M.L. Sills; her daughter, Brenda Wallace; and her sisters, Jackie Wilcher and Patricia Champion.

Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all.
