Ben Edward Mangum

Mr. Ben Edward Mangum, age 67, died on December 7, 2022. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, December 16 at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church, Star, Mississippi beginning at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, December 15 at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence and one hour before the service on Friday.

Ben was born on October 4, 1955. He was the son of the late William Nathaniel Mangum, Jr, and the late Dora Jean Mangum Whatley. He was a lifelong resident of Star.

Ben graduated from Florence High School in 1973. He then attended Hinds Junior College and Ole Miss. He was a long-time employee and manager at O’Reilly Auto Parts, an original member of the Star Volunteer Fire Department, a dedicated supporter of McLaurin Athletics, and volunteered as a videographer for the sports teams. He was a Dixie National Booster Club member and never missed a rodeo.

Ben loved Ole Miss football, was an avid western reader, loved his family farm, his family, his dog Cowgirl, and the Star community.

Ben is survived by his brother Cal Mangum (Kimberly) and sisters Kathy May (Isaac) and Tammy McLendon (Bubba), nephews Cass Brister (Katie), Devin Ates, Adam Ates, C.J. Mangum, and niece Maggie Mangum.
