Our son Benjamin James “Ben” Thomas went to his heavenly home on September 3, 2014 in a car accident in Clinton. Ben was born the 5th son in our blended family “the tie that binded us together” on March 8th 1990. He attended Clinton High, Pearl High School and Hinds Jr. College. He was a talented artist, guitarist and a lover of music. A loving, compassionate, tender hearted, gentle soul. He grew up in Pineview Baptist Church where at an early age, accepted the Lord as his Savior. We take great comfort in this assurance of knowing we will see our son again. Thank you Lord for allowing him to be your child and letting us hold him for 24 years. Ben was preparing to go to EMT school and later his dream was to become a firefighter like his dad. He was currently employed at Ewing & Ray Foundation, where he had been trained as a brick mason. Thank you for the outpouring of love, prayers and support. We thank God for the peace that passes all understanding, and for a heavenly home. Ben leaves behind his parents Ken & Pam (Hughes) Thomas, brothers Anthony (Becca) Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Scoty Hearst and Blake Hearst; grandmother Emma Lee Hughes; nephews Chase, Jay “Bird”, Michael, and Jacob; niece Ava Claire; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends he loved dearly. He was preceded by grandparents Jay & Lorraine Thomas, J.W. Hughes and cousins, Jason, Emily and Bryce. “The battle is over and victory is won”. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, September 5, 2014 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 11am Saturday, September 6 at Scottland Baptist Church in Bentonia, with a one hour visitation prior to service time at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
