Bennie Buford Robbins, 98, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-7pm, Friday, May 19, 2017 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Saturday, May 20, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Bennie was born in 1919 in Bunker Hill, MS. He attended Pearl River Junior College, and after serving in the Army during World War II, received his Masters degree from Mississippi State, remaining a proud Bulldog throughout his life. Bennie worked for many satisfying years as a Vocational Agriculture educator. Later, he enjoyed a long and very active retirement, fishing, gardening and serving his church. Bennie was preceded in death by his wife, Izella (Corley) Robbins and his sister Maudell LaConte. He is survived by his daughter, Mitzi, his sister, Charlene Limerick, his brother, Pete Robbins, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Baptist Children's Village.
