Mrs. Betty Joe Dear

August 21, 1944 — December 21, 2018

Mrs. Betty Jo Dear, 74, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Rexford UMC cemetery in Braxton, MS. Mrs. Dear was a lifelong resident of central MS, a 1961 graduate of Thomastown High School and a faithful member of Rexford United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful, amazing cook, who was always making sure there was enough food to feed anyone who sat at her table. She was the best mom to her two children and was most happy when surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed vacationing and camping. She loved Mississippi State, a good card game, and growing flowers. She could work as hard as any man but was a woman who looked forward to her hair appointment every week. Mrs. Dear is preceded in death by her parents, Hal Bierman and Eudora Ferrell Bierman; her precious daughter, Sherry Lynn Dear; her brother and his wife, Joe and Betty Sue Bierman; her sister and her husband; Charles and Ruth Stewart; and her niece, Carol Stewart. She leaves behind her husband of almost 50 years, Dwight Dear of Florence; her son and his wife, Terry and Jana Dear; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
