They lived in Petal until 1962 and moved to Jackson, MS where all four children graduated from Jackson schools. We are thankful that we had wonderful, loving, Christian parents who raised us with high morals and gave us many wonderful experiences. In 1992 Ben and Betty built their country home in Harrisville, MS. They really enjoyed their time in the country. Betty loved flowers! She definitely had a green thumb. In the country she hung 8 large gorgeous ferns across her long porch. She also loved to sew for her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was a most creative person with brilliant ideas as to how to improvise. In addition, she loved to cook and bake for family on special occasions. She made wedding cakes for both daughters and cakes for all occasions for others. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Robert McCardle; mother, Ruby McCardle Ladner; and husband, Ben O. Field, Jr. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Joe) Walker, daughter, Gail (Larry) Prince; son, Del (Dolly) Field; and son, Craig (Tammy) Field. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She is survived by her only brother, James “Buck” (Shirley) McCardle; and her sister, Alyeen Ladner.
