Billie Brown (Bill) Gambrell, 83, died, surrounded by his loving family, on February 11, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held Monday, February 15, from 6-8 p.m., and the funeral service on Tuesday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m., both at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Friends at Quest Community Church in Florence will provide food and fellowship after the service. Bill was born on March 6, 1926, in Soso, MS to his parents JP Gambrell and Winnie D. Aldridge. Serving in the United States Navy for 2 years, Mr. Gambrell was a veteran of World War II. He also served as president of the Jackson Rodeo Club in his early years, which evolved into the well known Dixie National Rodeo. He was a leader in the new and used auto sales industry for more than 60 years. He was currently working alongside CD Champion at Champion's Used Cars in Jackson.
