"Bill" William Montgomery

William “Bill” Montgomery went to be with his Lord, Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home in Richland. He was 84 years old.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 1:00  until the 2:00 p.m. Funeral service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence.  Interment will follow at Richland City Cemetery.

Bill was born June 11, 1938 to the late Marion and Millie Montgomery in Wesson, MS. He has lived in Richland for the past 12 years where he and his wife were faithful members of Briar Hill Baptist Church. Bill was in the insurance business since 1974 and loved calling on and visiting with people and funeral homes around the state.  He loved the Lord he was a servant, always willing to help others.  His hobby was his wife,  the love of his life for 41 years, Sandra Jones Montgomery.  You never saw one without the other.  They enjoyed a wonderful life together.  His nickname was “babe” and neither his nor Sandra had a name other than that for each other.

Along with his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Montgomery and Colin Montgomery.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Montgomery, of Richland; daughter, Melissa Montgomery of Brookhaven; son, Michael Wynn (Mitzi) of Brandon; grandchildren, Jacob and Kaitlyn Wynn.
