Billie Jean McDaniel Boykin, 78 went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. The family will receive friends Friday, October 30 from 10:0 am – 12:00 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with a Graveside Service at 12:30 pm at Rosemont Gardens in Jackson. Mrs. Boykin was born in McComb, Mississippi on February 2, 1942 to Bilbo Britton McDaniel and Ruthie Pouns. She attended Lester Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi. After High School, she married Howard (Buddy) Boykin of Jackson. She worked at the MS Baptist Hospital as an Operating Room Technician; managed Winstead Insurance Agency; worked at Zayres Department Store; was employed at the Department of Human Services for 10 years and then the Department of Transportation at the time of her retirement. After retiring, she was a Hostess at Rosemont Gardens Funeral Home. She enjoyed belonging to the Pearl Pirates Square Dance Club and the Merry-Go-Round Dance Club. She dearly loved her animals and was a people person. Billie Jean had a kind heart and tried to help people of all races. She would take in many people because she always thought all people were good honest, caring and loving. Her other enjoyment was going to church where she was a longtime member at McDowell Road Baptist Church and later a member of Griffin Memorial Baptist Church, and Ruth Sunday School Class. However, when unable to attend church, she was watching services on television. Mrs. Boykin was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, David. She is survived by her son, William Boykin of Ridgeland, MS; two daughters, Katherine Hankins of Montgomery, AL and Donna (David) Ausborn of Pearl, MS; grandchildren, Ola Shari Hooks, John Lewis Hankins, II Michael Baily Hankins, and David Britton Ausborn; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a number of cousins.
