Mrs. Billie Louise Mahaffey Smith, age 86, died on January 1, 2018 due to congestive heart failure and dementia. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 P.M. Until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home, Byram, MS. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born April 12, 1931 in D’Lo, MS. to William Carley and Pearl Leavy Stubbs Mahaffey of D’Lo and Jackson, MS. She was a 1949 graduate of Central High School in Jackson and also attended Draughn Business College. Mrs. Smith retired from the City of Jackson Tax Collectors Office after 30 years of service. After retirement she worked with the Hinds County Tax Collectors office and Dr. Ray Sullivan. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter Becky (Gary) Smith Dewitt of Magee; Two Granddaughters Lisa (Brian) Coulter Evers of Brandon and Scotti (Jack) Barfield Douglas of Magee; and five Great Grandchildren, Brianne, Drew and Allyson Evers of Brandon, Jaylea and Olivia Douglas of Magee. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Edward A “Ed” Smith in October 1992 and her former husband, a lifelong friend and high school sweetheart Ernest E. “Pete” Smith in November 2008, two brothers Cecil Mahaffey of Clinton and Junior Mahaffey of Atlanta, GA
