Billie Joe McCafferty, aka “Cherokee”, 56 from Braxton, MS went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. His wish to be at home was honored. Visitation will be Friday, August 12th from 5-8 PM and Saturday, August 13th from 12 PM until the 1 PM Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Florence. Cherokee was born July 3, 1960 in Gulfport, MS. He was an avid biker and fully embraced the biker lifestyle. He fully committed his life to Jesus and spent the last 8 years of his life telling everyone about his Lord. He was a member and deacon at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Florence. Cherokee had a saying that most have heard him say, “God’s got this”. Cherokee was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jamie McCafferty, and his sister, Tina. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, June McCafferty; his son, Michael McCafferty; step son, Jamie Meadows; sisters, Debbie Conley, Weda Ramage and Gina Forbes; brothers Keith Tillman and Dallas Tillman; 2 grandchildren and a host of honorary adopted children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to further Cherokee’s wish to help fund the 501c3 status for The Rumble Against Childhood Cancer.
