Billie Sue Rouse, 89, of Meridian, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Visitation is Monday, February 27th from 12pm until the 2pm service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Rouse was born and raised in New Hebron. She lived in Hinds County for 77 years. She was a great Christian lady. She was a member of Van Winkle Baptist Church until she moved to Clinton, where she became a faithful member of Wildwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Rouse loved teaching her 4 year old Sunday School class. She went straight to work after high school and worked for Bell South for 49 years. She loved to cook, bake, can goods, travel and loved going to the Beauty Shop on Saturdays. She also volunteered at Hinds General Hospital. Mrs. Rouse loved her church, her husband, her children and grandchildren. Her favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Mrs. Rouse is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie Dampeer; husband of 52 years, Albert L. Rouse; brother, C.B. Dampeer; and sisters: Annie Faye Trenholm, Blanchie Whitside, Nell Northern, and Charlene Fincher. She is survived by her daughters: Becky (James) Rainey of Meridian, and Suzanne Dunn of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Emily Voss, Will (Sabrina) Rainey, and Benjamin (Catherine) Dunn; great-grandchildren: Cody McCaffrey, Logan McCaffrey, Myles Voss, Jackson Voss, Alaina Rainey, and James Alan Rainey; cousin: Ida Lee Barron; and several nieces and nephews.
