Mrs. Billie Dear Whitfield

Billie Jean Dear Whitfield, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Friday, March 3rd from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Saturday, March 4th from 10 :00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at First Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery. A native of Star, MS, Mrs. Whitfield resided in Florence where she was a member of First Baptist Church. After graduating from Milsaps College she taught school in Magee and Tupelo before marrying Dr. John S. Whitfield in 1952. She loves her family, walks in the country, and her pets. She was an avid reader, and went to the library weekly. Mrs. Whitfield is survived by her son, Barry Whitfield of Florence; daughter, Donna Whitfield of Florence; grandchildren, Sean Tadlock of Brandon and Kati Whitfield of Metairie, LA; and great grandchild, Landreigh. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her caregivers, Joanna, Sandy, Katie, Angel, and Dana for their love and care.
