Mr. Billy Daniel Cook, Sr., “Pappy” 86, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at his home in Richland. Please join us in the celebration of his life; visitation will be Saturday, February 8th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with funeral service to follow all at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence. Procession immediately following to Sharon Presbyterian Church in Magee, MS. Mr. Cook was born July 11, 1933 to Webb and Gussie Cook in Magee, MS. He served his county proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion #112 where he served as commander for 2 years. He was the co-owner of Southern Rubber Stamp and Seal for 29 years. He was a long-time member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church where he served alongside his church family. He especially loved serving with others on the activities committee during vacation bible school and other events. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes and walking his 2k every morning. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Along with his parents, Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Viola Sasser Cook; his brother, Carl R. Cook; and his son-in-law, Philip Stein. He is survived by his son, Billy Jr. (Becky) Cook of Florence; daughter, Marlene Stein of Richland; grandchildren, Caleb (Kari) Cook, Kaci Stein, and Hanna Cook; great grandchildren, Lawsyn Cook and Swayze Cook; and sisters, Linda Little of Magee and Betty Brooks of Mendenhall.
