William Charles (Billy Charles) Mitchell was born on December 31, 1944, to Charles and Ruth Mitchell. He was the oldest of 4 children. Billy Charles married the love of his life Frances Ann Pleasant Mitchell on August 19, 1967. The couple built a beautiful life together, and the Lord blessed them with a loving family. Billy Charles passed away peacefully at his home in Raymond on August 21, 2024 after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruth Mitchell and his sister Lady Gloria Nelson.
Billy Charles is survived by his wife Frances, daughters Michelle Ball (Lance) of Terry, MS, Millie Bradshaw (Doug) of Clinton, MS, grandchildren Philip Ball, Anna Ball, Seth Ball, Isaac Bradshaw, Matthew Bradshaw, and Esther Bradshaw. He is also survived by his sisters Beth Long (Jeff) of Madison, MS, Peggy Edmonds (Terry) of Terry, MS, cousin and best friend Chip Bridgers (Phyllis) of Terry, MS.
Billy Charles and Frances owned and operated Mitchell’s Department Store in Terry, MS for many years. He worked and retired from Bell South after 30 years. He was also employed at Byers Engineering and Standing Pine Nursery. Billy Charles loved spending time in the pasture with the beef cattle he raised, and he was always happy if he was on the tractor! His family brought him so much joy, and he spent his retirement years watching his grandchildren show cattle, going to their ballgames, or helping them catch a fish in his pond. He was affectionately called Pawpaw by them and all their friends. In the last few years, you’d find him and his wife out at the shed sitting on the porch with their dog Baby or in town enjoying lunch with a group of friends at Vowell’s. He will be missed by his family and friends, but he is now at his eternal home with his Savior.
