Billy J. Moore passed into the arms of Jesus Saturday, July 2, 2022, at his residence in Florence, MS. He was 90 years old.
Billy was born March 23, 1932, in Carthage, MS to Elbert and Estell Pope Moore. He worked for the City of Jackson in the Public Works Department for 35 years. He was a member of Wyndale Baptist Church since 1998. A veteran of the United States Army, Billy served during the Korean War. He loved fishing, hunting, working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Those preceding him in death are his wife, Shirley Moore; mother, Estell Moore; father, Elbert Moore; brothers, Charles “Pete” Moore, Bobby Gene Moore; sisters, Dorothy Williams, Pat Bynum, Betty Ruth Cockcroft and Gertrude Moore.
His family left to cherish his memory are his son, Ricky Joe Moore and daughter in law, Julie Beth Moore; grandson, Christopher Joe Moore and his wife, Elizabeth Moore; 2 great grandchildren, Emerson Jane Moore, William Joseph Moore; 3 step grandchildren, Kristy Hearn (Justin Hearn), Alex Bell, Anthony Bell (Kimmie Bell); 7 step great grandchildren, Brayden, Kadence, Shaun, Rayan, Jacob, Rosie and Olivia; 2 sisters, Deloris Smith (Carl) and Ruby Burns.
A visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022, beginning at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at 12 noon at Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, MS
