Blanche Gooch Norsworthy

Blanche Gooch Ellis Norsworthy entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Byram, MS at Edgewood Nursing Home. She was 94 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Florence City Cemetery in Florence.

Blanche was born on November 3, 1929, to Thomas Grey Ellis and Minnie Lee Ellis and was the granddaughter of Florence Ellis for which the town of Florence was named. She lived all her life in Florence, MS. She was a lifelong active member of Marvin United Methodist Church where she served as the financial secretary for 25 years. Blanche was a retired schoolteacher from Rankin Academy. She also had worked for MS Employee Security Commission and sold World Book Encyclopedias to help encourage learning and education. Blanche loved being around people and people loved her.

Blanche is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Robert “Bob” S. Norsworthy Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Ann N. Bruemmer (Darryl) of Texas; sons, Robert S. “Sid” Norsworthy III (Deen) of Florence, and Mark Norsworthy (Karen) of Florence; grandchildren, Kim Goines, Paul Bruemmer, Jay Raymond, Robert S. Norsworthy IV, Dena Kate Norsworthy, Katie Norsworthy, and Paden Norsworthy; great grandchildren, Hailey Sykes, Madison Sykes, and Hudson Bruemmer; sister, Jane Soehner of Rock Island, TN; one niece; one nephew; and several great nieces and great nephews.
