Bobby Palmer

Bobby Palmer, age 74 – died Saturday, July 22, 2023, at his residence in Florence, MS.  Bobby was born January 7, 1949, in Jackson, MS the son of Andrew Dow Palmer and Mary Fuller Palmer.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 28, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence. The Celebration of his life and funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, Florence, MS.

Bobby was very proud of his service to our country. He faithfully served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard for over 27 years of active duty. Bobby served during the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and every conflict through Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a very highly decorated veteran. In addition to his military service, Bobby was a faithful member of Faithview Baptist Church. He loved his family greatly, especially the apple of his eye and love of his life, his wife of 49 years before her passing, Shirley Palmer. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a great source of pride and accomplishment whom he showered with love and affection. Bobby was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and enjoyed playing the guitar.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Andy Palmer (Jennifer) of Richland, Philip Palmer (Colleen) of Lake Mary, FL, Josh Palmer (Jennifer) of Florence, and Daniel Palmer of Florence; three brothers: Ray Palmer (Sandy) of Clinton, MS, Jim Palmer (Carol) of Florence, MS, and John Palmer (Gina) of Florence, MS; sister-in-law, Deborah Palmer of Mendenhall, MS; five grandchildren: Brooke, Drew, Ashlyn, Raegan, and Livi; four great-grandchildren: Braiden, Blakely, Liam, and Cash; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Palmer; his parents, Andrew, and Mary Fuller Palmer, and one brother, Tom Palmer.
