Brenda Kay Lovern, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Merit Health River Oaks. She was 66. Visitation will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park. Due to the current circumstances regarding COVID-19, the funeral home will have an occupancy of ten people in the building at a time. Face masks are required and social distancing guidelines apply. A resident of Rankin County for a number of years, Mrs. Lovern was born to Walter Earl Patterson, Sr. and Mary Louise Todd Patterson on July 12, 1954 in Shreveport, LA. Before becoming disabled in 2000, she had been employed as a waitress. She was a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. Brenda was a unique person to know and very loving towards everyone she met. Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Duran. She is survived by her sons, Billy Joe (Michelle) Duran, Jr. of Pearl and Tony (Fran) Lovern of North Carolina; mother, Mary Patterson of Richland; sister, Rose Mary (David) Duran of Richland; brothers, Walter Patterson, Jr. of New Hebron and John (Paula) Patterson of Florence; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
