C.G. Norton, 86, passed away at Friday, November 21, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, November 22nd from 5-8 PM and Sunday, November 23rd from 1 PM until the 2 PM Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Wesleyanna Cemetery in Florence. A resident of Star for 48 years, Mr. Norton was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a steel worker, retiring after 33 years with Nucor Steel. Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Eva Lou Norton; daughter, Dianne Rone; grandson, Richard Boggs; step grandson, Ricky Rone; and brothers, Willie J. Norton Jr. and Harold Norton. He is survived by his children, Richard (Susan) Norton of Richland; Mary Norton of Star and Becky Boggs of Star; sisters, Modena N. Overby of Pearl; grandchildren, Casey McCaffrey, Jennifer McCook and Samantha Elward; step grandchildren, David Rone and Ken Rone; 7 great grandchildren and 1 step grandchild; and close extended family members, Sherry Evans and Kali Evans.
