Carl Glen Bailey, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home in Jackson. Visitation for family and friends will be 1-2pm Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A private graveside service will follow for the family. Mr. Bailey was born in Pelahatchie, MS to the late James Nelson Bailey and Myra Jane Pierce Bailey. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Airman 1st Class Carl G. Bailey earned several distinguished awards during his tour of 91 air missions in Korea as a medical technician aboard helicopters and amphibian type planes. Many of his copter missions were behind enemy lines evacuating wounded personnel. Mr. Bailey’s working career was in sales with the Insurance business. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Jean when she was fifteen and he was sixteen. They were married three weeks after she graduated high school. Ten days later he went to Korea with the Air Force. He had immense pride in having raised six children. He encouraged higher education and was very proud of his children’s successes. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Jean Bailey and siblings James and Charles Bailey and Sarah Alford. Survivors include his children, Dr. Glen (Alisa) Bailey, Jr. of Panama City, FL and their children, Lindsey Bailey & Austin Bailey; Rose (Robby) Nelson of Florence and their children, Trace Nelson and Shanna Nelson; Beverly (Steve) Burt of Terry and their children Angela Burt, Stephanie Meadows and Bryan Burt; Susan Vigh of Brandon and her children Lauren Bartholet and Jake Moore; Brenda (Joe) Barnes of Byram and their children Jenny Sneed, Ty Barnes and Katie Dwyer; Billy Bailey of Arvada, Co; brother, Bobby Bailey of Brandon; sister, Betty Wilson of Clinton; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, Tristan Meadows, Isabella Meadows and Monroe Bartholet.
