Carla Jo Waddell

September 12, 1962 — June 22, 2023

The family wishes to announce that Carla Jo Waddell, age 60, of Pearl, MS, left this world and entered her Heavenly home to be with Jesus in the early morning hour of June 22, 2023. She was surrounded by many of her most loved family members, with her mother holding her hand as she passed away peacefully to go and be in the presence of her personal Savior Jesus Christ our Lord.

Carla is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Mildred Kirkpatrick; paternal grandparents, James Melvin and Eva Dee Waddell; father, Charles William “Billy” Waddell and 2 of the family’s children known as “The Twins”, who were born in Heaven. She is also preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous close friends better known to her as “Family.”

Carla is survived by her beloved mother, Charlene K. Waddell; sisters, Christie Brunson and Theresa Waddell Wright; nephews, Tory Brunson, Kye Wright and Joah Wright; nieces, Brandy Mahaffey, Kayla Chapman (Colby), Danielle Brunson and Ashley Oswalt; 2 great nephews, Ayden McKlemurry and Kaison Oswalt; great nieces, Allison Scarbrough, Farrah Chapman, Jaycee Chapman, McKinley Chapman, and Charleigh Chapman; cousins, Donnie Waddell, Stephanie Thompson and Lynn Lemaster and many other loved family members as well as many friends too numerous to name that she regarded as family.

Carla was born in Clarksville, Arkansas, September 12, 1962. She was raised in the Richland/Florence area and graduated from Florence High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1980. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi attaining her life-long goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, which she was inspired to do as a little girl by her “Meme” who worked at a hospital for many years.

Carla excelled in her chosen career beginning in the nursery of Women’s Hospital while attending college, followed by working on a hospital pediatric floor after graduation.

She retired from the Health Department, where she specialized in working with pregnant women and their unborn babies. She then returned to hospital work at Baptist Medical Center working with pediatric patients.

Carla loved and served many people in her life, but the ones she absolutely adored the most were her babies and children! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
