Carmon Lindsey, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1-2pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A memorial service will begin at 2pm in the funeral home chapel.\ \ Mr. Lindsey was born May 25, 1923 in Etta, MS to Bolivar and Lillie Mae Christman Lindsey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII with the 640th Battalion Quartermaster Company being honorably discharged in 1946. He had lived in the Jackson area since 1947. For 42 years, he was employed with the National Park Service where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Natchez Trace Parkway in MS and the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and Virginia. After retiring from the Park Service, he spent many years as a driver for Avis at the Jackson International Airport.\ \ He is preceded in death by his parents, Bolivar and Lillie Mae Lindsey and 4 brothers; Virgil Lindsey, Travis Lindsey, Willie Lindsey and Curtis Lindsey. He is survived by his sons Phil Lindsey (Toni) of Pearl and Greg Lindsey (Sheila) of Florence; daughter Brenda Lee of Jackson; former daughter-in-law Beth Lindsey of Ridgeland; one brother Jim Lindsey (Jean) of Memphis, TN and two sisters, Helen Hodo of New Braunsfels, Texas and Lucille Gullick (Norman) of Fairplay, SC. He was also "Pawpaw" to seven grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.\ \ In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
