Mrs. Carolyn Whitfield Henry

Carolyn Whitfield Henry, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Brandon Court, in Brandon. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2nd from 5-8PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Thursday, April 3rd from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at First Baptist Church Florence. Mrs. Henry enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother. She had a very positive outlook on life and always saw the good in people. She was employed with MS Employment Security Commission in Jackson as an Executive Secretary for the Executive Director. She loved children and served as a 1st grade teacher assistant for 10 years at Florence Elementary. She also tutored children in her home and enjoyed typing term papers for numerous students. She taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, James William Henry, Jr.; parents, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Noble Whitfield, Sr.; and 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn A. “Lyn” Henry of Florence; Sister, Mary Ann Whitfield Goodson of Birmingham, AL; Sister-in-law, Billie Dear Whitfield of Florence, MS. The family would also like to extend gratitude to the Doctors and caregivers at Mississippi Baptist Hospital, Wisteria Gardens, Brandon Court and MS Home Care of Brandon.
