Carolyn Joyce Hicks

Carolyn Joyce Hicks, 75, went to be with the Lord Sunday April 16, 2023, at her residence in Florence. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 19, 2023, at 12:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Interment will follow in the Star Cemetery in Star, MS.

Carolyn was born April 15, 1948, in Brandon, MS to A.L. and Lorene Jones Byars. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and her pets. She was married to Dewayne for 50 years, beginning their journey on November 18, 1972. She began her 44-year career as a Surgical Clerk at Baptist Hospital and later at Hinds General Hospital.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, A.L. “Buck” Byars and Lorene Jones Byars and brother, Allison “Al” Byars, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Dewayne Hicks of Florence, MS; daughters, Carolyn “Denise” Lamkin and husband Virgil Lamkin, Jenny Patrice Quattlebaum and husband Jeremy Quattlebaum both of Florence; sisters, Betty Dickinson, and Lynda McCrory both of Philadelphia; three grandchildren Trace Martin Hicks Quattlebaum, Trevor Dewayne Lamkin and Preston Lee Lamkin.
