Carolyn Speed Williams went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Villa South Assisted Living in Florence. She was 87 years old. Visitation will be Friday, February 18th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, February 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Briar Hill Community Cemetery in Florence. Mrs. Williams was born November 3, 1934 to the late William Lewis and Eleanor Speed in Hattiesburg, MS. She was a faithful member of Briar Hill Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1994 where she worked as a Flight Standards Clerk. She had a wonderful, outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. She was a people person who never met a stranger and a friend to all who knew her. She loved her family, her friends and her church dearly, but above all, she loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for anyone who had a need. Her favorite verse was Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father, which is in heaven” and she lived her life by that verse. Along with her parents, Mrs. Williams is also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Speed; and her husband, Billy Williams, whom she was a devoted wife to for 63 years. She is survived by her daughter, Becky (James) Fuller of Florence; son, Randy (Cindy) Williams of Ft. Mill, S.C.; grandchildren, Brooke Saviano, April Williams, Cody Fuller, and Ethan Fuller; and great grandchildren, Aubrey and Landon Saviano and Josie Fuller. The family would like to thank the staff of Villa South and Homecare Hospice for their loving care and compassion of Mrs. Williams.
