Cecil Dwayne Walker, 71, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He passed away at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brandon. Cecil was born on April 26, 1953, in Mendenhall, MS to Cecil Preston Walker and Annie Lee Abernathy Walker. Cecil was the oldest child and was known as "Little Cecil" for most of his adolescent years. As a teenager he outgrew his father which made it confusing to refer to him by that nickname.
Cecil lived most of his life in Byram. He graduated from Byram Attendance Center in 1972. He worked several jobs as a teenager. As a young adult, Cecil began a career with Siemens Entergy in Richland, MS that spanned 43 years. The family has been told by his former co-workers that he did an excellent job building electrical transformers. He never served in the military, but if you saw him out, he was usually wearing some article of clothing and/or hat showing respect for the different branches of service. He would tell people he wore these because of many family members that did serve. He was extremely proud of his family.
Cecil was an active member of First Baptist Church of Byram until his health declined making it difficult to attend services. He moved to the nursing home in Brandon at this time.
Cecil is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Preston Walker.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Lee Walker of Byram, brothers, Mike Walker (Melitta) of Terry and Tommy Walker (Robin) of Raymond. He is also survived by nephews, Preston Walker (Irena) of Covington, LA, Andrew Walker (Chelsea) of Brandon, Mathew Walker (Mary) of Raymond, and Luke Walker of Terry, and nieces, Mandy Tuttle (Andy) of Raeford, NC, Tabitha McCoy (David) of Florence. Additionally, he leaves behind great nieces, Lydia McCoy, Hannah McCoy, Arya Walker, Lilah Walker, Quinn Walker, and Ellie Walker.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his honor to First Baptist Church of Byram, marked for Community Needs Account.
