Charlene Rather Dunaway, 74, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home in Raymond. Visitation will be 9am until the 11am funeral service Monday, July 2, 2018 at Country Woods Baptist Church in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Dunaway was born in Jackson, MS to the late Charles Rather and Irene Self. She had lived in the Raymond area for the past 30 years having come from West Jackson. Her working career was as a bookkeeper for MS Serum Distributors. Mrs. Dunaway loved going to the mountains, gospel music, hummingbirds and her Sunday School Class. She was known as Maw Maw to anyone who knew her and she was a fine Christian lady and loved her family dearly, always putting others before herself. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gene Dunaway of Raymond; son, Jay (Karla) Dunaway of Raymond; daughter, Melissa (Edwin) Shelby of Raymond; sister, Ann (Bobby) Jones of Raymond; grandchildren, Andrew Shelby (Megan), Jason Dunaway (Brittany), Brandon Shelby (Cassi), Dillon O’Keefe; great grandchildren, Bowen Shelby, Chloe Shelby and Lily Thompson.
