Charles Edward Sikes passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at the VA nursing home in Jackson, MS. He was 68 years old.
Charlie was born on December 19, 1954, to the late Amos and Rachel Broadhead Sikes in Mobile, AL. He grew up in the Mobile area until moving to the Jackson, MS area where he lived for 40 plus years. He was a proud member of the Marine Corps where he served his country honorably for 4 years. Settling in the Florence community where he spent 20 years of wonderful marriage to the love of his life, Kelly Keith Sikes. Charlie was a hard-working man, retiring from Armstrong World Industries after 21 years as a shipping coordinator. Charlie loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed music, Nascar, and coin collecting among other things. One of his favorite past times was his lunches that he had every day from the local grocery store Ramey’s where he and his best 4-legged friend, and dog Pickle would enjoy those lunches together, especially Tuesday’s which was liver day. Charlie was a good man that will be truly missed.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kelly Sikes of Florence, MS; daughter, Lori (Michael) Finnegan of Florence, MS; Son, Dustin (Laureen) Skinner of Pearl, MS; stepmother, Virgina “Ginny” Sikes; Brothers, Woodrow “Woody” (Kathy) Sikes of Gulfport, MS; Steve “James Judas” Sikes of Florence, MS; David "Boo" (Lyn) Sikes of Meridian, MS, and Justin “Ooba Dooba” (Amanda) Sikes of Braxton, MS; Sisters, Regina “Dinky” (Shane) Evans of Tallahassee, FL and Sheila “Buckwheat” (Don) McGraw of Bentonia, MS; grandchildren, Dawson Finnegan, Trace Finnegan, Michael Skinner, Mason Skinner, and Hollis Skinner.
