Mr. Charles Dukes

Mr. Charles Henry Dukes, 73 of Jackson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday November 22, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2014, from 5-7pm and Tuesday 9-10am at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10am in the funeral home chapel with burial following at Dukes Family Cemetery in White Oak, MS. A native of White Oak, Mr. Dukes was a talented trim carpenter who loved the outdoors and taking his sons hunting. He loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Country Woods Baptist Church where he helped with the 3 and 4 year old Sunday School class. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and spending time with his family was what he enjoyed most. Mr. Dukes is preceded in death by his parents, Hurshell and Margie Dukes and his sister, JoAnn Sellers. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bessie Dukes, of Jackson; his children, Angela Schmidt of Brandon, Stephanie Dukes of Brandon, Sherman Dukes (Janice) of Pearl, and Shelton Dukes (Ellanor) of Mountain Brook, AL; 6 grandsons, Matt Parker (Rachel), Addison Parker, Kirby Dukes, Parker Dukes, Harrison Dukes and Henry Dukes; 3 great grandchildren, Cruze Parker, Lathan Parker and Lynley Parker; and numerous nieces nephews and other family members. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Justin Baker and all of the nurses and staff of Jackson Oncology, especially Cara Chandler, RN.
