Charles Golden Hammes II
Born August 9, 1937, in Richlands, Virginia, transitioned from this life at the age of 86 peacefully at home on August 18, 2023, in Byram, MS.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Once he left the USAF, he worked at Boeing Air. Then accepted a position with AT&T, where he also served as Union president. He retired after many years with the company.
Although Ohio was his home, he and his family eventually moved and made Mississippi their home in the early 1970's .
He was Preceded in death by both his parents Charles Hammes, I and Mattie Mayo (Russell) Hammes; both His sons Charles G. III known as ‘Junior’ and David Brian; both brothers Danny and Carl; a granddaughter CJ; two grandsons Joseph and Brian; his father and mother-in-Law, as well as many brother & sister in laws.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Uvena Carol, daughters; Marie King, Patricia Bush (Edward), Pamala McGuffee (William) and 13+grandchildren and many great grandchildren….As well as his sisters Corlette Staton & Anna Washkee (Richard) with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
The family will receive family and friends for a remembrance and celebration of life Saturday, August 26, 2023, between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM followed by an 11:00 AM Memorial service at Chancellor Funeral Home 7225 S. Siwell Rd., Byram, MS.
