Charles Denver Terry, 77, died peacefully on the evening of September 11, 2009 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS after a courageous battle with cancer.\ Visitation will be today from 2-5pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Funeral Services are 11am Monday at the funeral home and graveside services will be 1:30pm at Shiloh Cemetery in Sontag.\ \ Mr. Terry was a resident of Clinton, where he was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. He retired from Continental Can Company where he was a supervisor. He served 8 years in the U.S. Army from 1952-60, during the Korean War. Mr. Terry was well known for his love and talent of growing flowers and gardening, his love for the sport of baseball and his tremendous love and adoration for his family. \ \ He was born in Sontag, MS on December 7, 1931 and is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Mary Zellar Terry, brother, B.R. Terry, sisters, Eddie Mae Douglas and Louise Douglas, step sisters, Irene Jackson and Hazel Jackson and grandson, Ryan Terry Skinner.\ \ Mr. Terry is survived by his wife, Betty Terry, of Clinton; 2 sons, Mitch Terry and wife Lissa, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Glen Terry and wife Karen, of The Woodlands, TX; a daughter, Angel Skinner and husband Bill, of Raymond; grandchildren, Amye & Danny Hanes, Tiffany & Chris Snell, Sommer, Mike, Heather & Amber Terry, Trey & Nikki Skinner; great grandchild, William Snell; sisters, Nora Lee Saah, of Adelphia, MD and brother, Marshall Terry, of McComb.\ \ The family would like to express appreciation for the loving care and kindness provided by Dr. Grace Shumaker and her staff at Jackson Oncology Associates, the doctors and nurses at CMMC/ Radiation Oncology of Mississippi, Mississippi Home Care, all the caregivers at Hospice Ministries, the ministry teams at Morrison Heights Baptist Church and the countless family and friends who sent food, cards and offered prayers of support.\ \ Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries or the American Cancer Society.\ \
