Charles Ermon Watts, 89, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Hospice unit of the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Services will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence with visitation Tuesday, June 14th from 5PM until 7PM and Wednesday, June 15th from 10AM until 11 AM with funeral service at 11AM and interment immediately following at the Garden of Memories. \ \ Charlie Watts was born January 7, 1922 in Seminary, Mississippi and lived the life of a true Renaissance man. The husband and father of four owned and piloted two private airplanes. He also owned racecars with his favorite being named 2 Short. Charlie expressed his talents musically as he played stand-up bass, bass guitar, and electric guitar with friends, as a part of several bands and handed down his talent to both his children and grandchildren. He was an avid farmer and gardener and generously shared the fruits of his efforts with friends and family. Charlie spent his weekends at "The Farm" where he raised livestock including three donkeys affectionately named after his grandchildren. He was voted "most popular" in high school and never met a stranger treating every new friend as a best friend. Charlie was a hunter, fisherman, 32 Degree Mason, Shriner, American Legion member, President of Stonewall Jackson Little League, Army Serviceman during World War II, and retired as Vice President of Mississippi Steel and Iron in Jackson. Known as "Snookie" by his closest friends and "Pawpaw" by his family, he will be remembered with love and deep admiration by all who knew him.\ \ The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at the VA Medical Center for their compassionate care.\ \ Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lottie Milner Watts of Brandon, daughter, Cheyrle Peebles (Buster) of Madison, sons, Jerry Watts (Sandra) of Madison, Gary Watts (Gay) of Raymond, grandchildren, Rob Peebles of Clinton, Amber Watts Allen of New Roads, LA, Olivia Watts of Raymond, Josh Hockenberry of Madison and one brother Cecil Watts of Brenham TX. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Everett and Grace Kelly Watts and son Ronnie Watts.\
