Charles W. Andrews, Jr.

Charles Willard (Charlie) Andrews, Jr., age 84, went to be with the Lord December 23, 2012, at the MS Baptist Center in Jackson, MS. Charles was born November 23, 1928 in Belzoni, MS to the late Charles Willard Andrews, Sr. and Bertha E. Mansiel Andrews Entrekin. Charles lived in Braxton, MS most of his life before moving to Byram, MS. \ \ Charles was a graduate of Harrisville School and Copiah Lincoln Junior College and he also attended Mississippi College. He was a member of the Army National Guard (the 854th unit) in Fort Pickett, VA. As an Assistant Chaplain he performed many marriages and sermons. Charles was a longtime member of New Zion Baptist Church in Braxton, MS. He worked for Knox Glass in Flowood, MS for 16 years and retired from Sperry Vickers, Inc. after 28 years of service. He was a farmer and realtor for Kimbrough Realty and Century 21 for a total of 27 yrs. He was a Past Master Mason, Harrisville Lodge #336 and a Color Guard with Wahabi Temple in Jackson, MS.\ \ He was preceded in death by his sisters; Lottie Mae Andrews Different and Hazel Elizabeth Andrews; and a brother, Paul Monroe Andrews.\ \ Survivors include his wife Carmen Dougherty Andrews of Byram, MS; 7 children, Wayne Andrews (Jean), Janice Pinson (Terry), Barbara Cox (Mark), Kenneth Andrews, Lorrie Hicks (Kevin), Jerry Andrews (Michelle), and Shanna Collins (Doug); 11 step-children, Zita Williams (David), Oscar Dougherty (JoAnn), Julie Richardson (Mack), William "Bennie" Dougherty (Jewel), Karl Dougherty (Kay), Ray Dougherty (Gale), Frances "Sugar" Romedy (Randal), Lita Edwards (Gary), Tina Dougherty, Penny Eichwurtzle (Douglas), and Rusty Dougherty; 2 brothers, Howard Daniel Andrews and Joseph Earl Entrekin (Juanita); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.\ \ Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 5-8 PM. Memorial Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11 AM in the Chapel in the funeral home chapel.
