Cindy Rees Lewis

Cindy Jean Lewis passed away at her residence, Monday, April 17, 2023.  She was 65 years old and a lifelong resident of Hinds County.  She was born to James Gary Rees, Sr and Jean Lee England of Jackson, MS, on October 11, 1957.  She had a lifetime love of horses and was still barrel racing.  She was a member of the MS Western Horse Show Association and the National Barrel Horse Association for many years.  She had won numerous awards for her abilities and sportsmanship throughout her lifetime.  She loved her pets, her dogs and cats.  She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and working with her flowers in the yard.  She retired from a long career with the MS Department of Agriculture and Commerce as an Information Technologist. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Jean England Rees.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bill Lewis; her father, James Gary Rees, Sr of Defuniak Springs, FL; a brother, James Gary Rees, Jr of Freeport, FL; and two stepchildren, Adam Lewis (Kristen) of Portland, Maine, and Morgan Richardson (Jeff) of Edwards, MS.

Her family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 12:00 pm until the hour of service at 2:00 pm, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS.
