Clara Tyson May

d. January 26, 2008

Our loving and devoted mother and friend, Clara Gober Tyson May, was lovingly ushered into God's arms by her children, grandchildren and niece, Tammy. She entered her eternal rest Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the age of 73.\ \ Born December 27, 1934, to William and Raney Gober, she married Luther Tyson at a young age. Together they raised 6 children in Jackson, MS. When he passed away she worked hard to become a registered dietician working at Baptist Hospital and Magee Hospital.\ \ She moved to Harrisville, MS, and married Robert May in 1992. She spent the next years cultivating 2 acres of flower beds, fishing in her pond, and being all she could be to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. What she told us repeatedly was put into words years ago by Harriet Beecher Stowe," I long to put the experience of fifty years at once into your young lives, to give you at once the key of that treasure chamber, every gem of which has cost me tears and struggles and prayers." She will be remembered for her great love, her infinite wisdom, her wonderful sense of humor, and her amazing strength.\ \ Clara will be welcomed in heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents William and Raney Gober, her husbands, Luther Tyson and Robert May, her precious daughter, Bonnie, her brother W.T. Gober, and her sister: Margie Jenkins.\ \ She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda(Jerry) Smith, Debra (Freddie) Brown, and Robin (Ted) Alexander; her sons, David (Patty) Tyson, Mike (Susan) Tyson, and Billy (Lisa) Tyson; 17 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren; Her brother, Joe(Chris) Gober of Counce, TN; Sisters, Bonnie Crocker of Brandon, MS, and Carolyn Gober of Counce, TN; numerous nieces and nephews and her loving niece Tammy Vaughn.\ \ The family would like to express our deep appreciation to the excellent care and love we received from Dr. Guangzhi Qu and Dr. Robert Lee. Your labor of love gave us four more years of beautiful memories and for that we will be forever grateful.\ \ Funeral services will be directed by Chancellor Funeral home of Florence where visitation will be held Monday, January 28, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Tuesday January 29. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. followed by interment at Lakewood Cemetery, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS\ \ Officiating ministers are Rev. Freddie Brown and Rev. Jerry Smith. Special Music will be presented by her granddaughters Terri pate, Debbi Holt, and Sydney Tyson.\ \ Pallbearers are her grandsons Jonathan Marek, David Marek, Jason Marek, John Tyson, Joseph Tyson, Joe Burrage, and Gabriel Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Jamie Fortado, Nathan McBay, Larry Pate, Wes Teten, Stephen Holt, and Chad Poe.\ \ \
