With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Claude Lazarus, Jr., 96, affectionately known as "Shorty", who departed from this world on August 14, 2024, in Clinton, MS. He was born on September 16, 1927, in Woodville, MS, to the late Mr. Claude Lazarus, Sr. and Barbara Walker Lazarus.

Shorty led a remarkable life, leaving behind a profound legacy built on principles of honor, endurance, and love. He dedicated 44 years of unwavering service to MS Power and Light, retiring as a Senior Lineman. Additionally, Shorty was a fervent member of the 605 IBEW for 78 years.  He was also a proud WWII Veteran, having served with the US Marine Corp as a Small Arms Mechanic.

Throughout his life, Shorty held his family above all else. He cherished his late wife, Willie Ann Lazarus, the love of his life, who he took great pleasure in watching her compete for 58-years in barrel racing.  Aside from his dedication to work and family, Shorty had a deep passion for fishing and hunting. Moreover, he owned and operated tackle shops in and around Jackson.

Shorty will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and hobbies but also for the love and kindness he bestowed upon those lucky enough to know him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of crossing paths with such a noble and honorable man.

He is survived by son, Les Lazarus, of Terry, and his sister-in-law, Sue Wells of Cleveland, MS, along with many nieces and nephews.

In the company of his late parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lazarus, Sr., his wife, Willie, and siblings, Katherine Bray, Jerry Lazarus, and Dink Lazarus,

For Claude Lazarus, Jr., the end of his journey marks both a celebration of a life well-lived and a sorrowful farewell to a beloved patriarch, friend, and mentor. May he rest in peace, forever cherished and esteemed by those who knew him.
