Clenties Geraldine Hewitt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on November 4th, 2023 in Jackson, MS. She was born on February 23rd, 1939 to Smiley George Bowman and Nellie Ray Britt Bowman in Jackson, MS.
Mrs. Geraldine was known for her nurturing and caring nature. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in being a homemaker. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to providing love and support to her husband of 58 years, Earl G. Hewitt, and their three daughters.
In 1976, she rededicated her life to the Lord at Jackson Revival Center and was a member from that moment on. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was known for being a prayer warrior.
Mrs. Geraldine's greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren who brought endless happiness to her life. They always held a special place in her heart. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother, she also enjoyed cultivating relationships within her community. Her warm smile could brighten anyone's day, and she had a way of making everyone around her feel welcome. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, strong values, and her ability to create a warm and loving environment for her family. Her legacy of familial devotion and kindness will continue through the generations she touched.
Mrs. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Laura Ashley Drew.
She is survived by her husband, Earl G. Hewitt; her 3 daughters: Vickie R. Williamson (Ronnie) of Raymond, MS; Debora Drew (Kevin)of Florence, MS; and Denise Mitchell (Steven) of Pearl, MS. She leaves behind her siblings, Eddie L. Bowman (Betsy) of Ashland City, TN; Johnnie C. Emerson of Pearl, MS; Nelda I. Myers of Pearl, MS; and George M. Bowman (Lita) of Pearl, MS. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren; Lindsay Drew of Jackson, MS; Audry Bishop of Clinton, MS; Timothy Bishop (Dianne) of Poulsbo, WA; Kimberly Knight (Jonathan) of Pearl, MS; and Andrew Mitchell of Greenwood, MS; as well as 4 great grandchildren, Wesson Carter Knight and Lennon Brooks Knight of Pearl, MS and Clark Wesley Bishop and Ellen Carol Bishop of Poulsbo, WA.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at 11am at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with a visitation time one hour before the service begins.
The family has requested plants or potted flowers instead of floral stands, so that the family may keep them as a memorial for Mrs. Geraldine.
