Mr. Clifford Dee Dudley, Jr.

October 17, 1928 — May 28, 2015

Clifford Dee “Cliff” Dudley, Jr., passed peacefully from this life into life eternal with our Lord in the early hours of May 28, in the Community Living Center of the Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. Cliff came to know Jesus as his Savior at an early age and that is why we can rejoice in his home-going to Heaven! Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 29, at Chancellor Funeral Home on Siwell Road in Byram. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Parkway Memorial Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland. Cliff was born in Terrell, Texas on October 17, 1928, to Clifford Dee Dudley, Sr., and Myrtle Giles Dudley. He was the fourth of ten children. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters (Jimmie Carr and Faye Morriss), two brothers (Bill Dudley and Douglas Dudley), and his first grandchild, Josh Jones. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Mathis Dudley, his daughter Rhonda Dudley Jones and her husband Scott of Ridgeland, his son Scott Dudley and his wife Natalie of Byram, four grandchildren (David Jones, Laura Jones Stubblefield and her husband Rhett, Sallianne Dudley, and Bailey Dudley), and his 4 month old great-grandson RB Stubblefield, whom he rejoiced in seeing. He is also survived by three brothers, Charles Dudley (Margaret) of Elmo, Texas, Robert Dudley (Connie) of Emory, Texas, Neely Wayne Dudley (Teddy) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and two sisters, Dorothy Tobiason of Pensacola, Florida, and Sue Lawson of Terrell, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cliff was a veteran of our military, serving in the Air Force during the Korean War and spent two years in Korea. He enjoyed flying airplanes in his younger days, getting his pilot’s license before he got his driver’s license. He spent his entire working career in the steel fabrication industry. He was a gifted steel detailer/draftsman, and also worked as an estimator, sales manager, and project manager for fabricators around the southeast. He enjoyed coaching baseball when his son Scott was playing age. He also enjoyed gardening and the fresh produce from their gardens over the years, much of which he gave away. Cliff also liked a good game of golf and played into his eighties. Cliff, or Pop, as his grandkids called him, had a fun relationship with all his grandchildren and loved spending time with each of them. Cliff’s family would like to offer their deep appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff at the Community Living Center at the VA where Cliff lived the final year of his life on this earth. They are too numerous to list by name, but Rhonda, who spent many hours there with her dad, knows you by name and appreciates and loves you for the care you gave her “Daddy”. Memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church, Madison, Mississippi. The online guestbook may be signed at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.
