Clyde Franklin Hampton, Sr., 88, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, June 15, 2018 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Saturday, June 16 all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Mr. Hampton was born in Oak Grove, LA to the late Eugene Franklin Hampton and Theonia Allred Hampton. He was a longtime resident of South Jackson and member of the former Woodville Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Hampton proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal. He loved horses--enjoying showing them and competing in barrel racing. He at one time was the oldest member of the NBHA in Mississippi. Mr. Hampton retired from Sears Roebuck and was a former manager of Cock of the Walk Restaurant in Nashville, TN and owned two Bonanza Restaurants in Pearl and McComb. He also truly enjoyed volunteering at the Hinds County Sheriff’s Dept. Mr. Hampton loved his family dearly. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Hampton; sons, Clyde Hampton, Jr. (Lydia) of Florence and Ricky Hampton (Gail) of Terry; sisters, Emily Lee and Betty Hampton both of Oak Grove, LA; grandchildren, Chad Hampton (Tiffany), Allison McGee (Wint), Ashley Rushing (Wesley) and Austin Hampton (Shaina); great grandchildren, Kate, Jon David, Tyler, Landon, Lake, Cruz, Madison, Aubrey, Charlotte, Amelia, and Caroline.
