Daniel Lee Ogletree passed away on November 13, 2021 at his home in Florence. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 16th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the 2:00 service. Dan was born on October 18, 1940 in Neshoba County. He was the sixth of thirteen children of Daniel Lockridge and Lynda Mae Ogletree. He retired from Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind after 34 years, where he took great joy in helping others and making friends along the way. He enjoyed watching sports, especially when his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were involved. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising vegetables to share with family and friends. Welcoming Dan to heaven were his parents, his sister Frances Gates, brothers Lamar, Donald, and Tommy, and grandson Hayden Thompson. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Cindy; children David (Colita) Ogletree, Susan Scarberry (Evan Nichols), and Samantha (James) Roberts; grandchildren Hunter (Kristy) Thompson, Haley (Ryan) Collins, and Remi Roberts; great-grandchildren Kamdyn, Tucker, Allie, Ripken, and Lottie; sisters Margaret Arnold, Peggy Brantley, Beverly Durant, Belinda Gilmore; brothers Sidney, Allen (Janice), Zywon, and Steve; and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Addie McBryde Center for the Blind, or the charity of your choice.
