Mr. Daniel Duane Flaharty, 79, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his home in Brandon, MS surrounded by his family. The family will hold a Memorial Service at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 411 N Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA on Friday, January 4, 2019. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 9:00 a.m. and mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Flaharty was born March 7, 1939 in McCune, Kansas to the late Earl Raymond and Gladys Lily Ford Flaharty. He moved to Lafayette, LA in 1966 and worked in the Oil Field, retiring from Marathon in 1992. He continued to work in the Oil Field until 2005, then moved to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Along with his parents, Daniel is also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Flaharty and Ray Flaharty; and the mother of his first two children, Judith Flaharty. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Buras Flaharty of Brandon; daughter from his first marriage, Cheryl (Rick) Scurlock of Sarasota, FL and son from his first marriage, Kevin (Jennifer) Flaharty of Lafayette, LA; son, Terrell (Angie) Flaharty of Belle Chasse, LA; daughter, Trena Rae Flaharty (Zach Yarborough) of Kentwood, LA; brother, Richard (Sammie) Flaharty of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren, Levi, Jeffrey, Bobby, Corey, Allen, Kate, and Trey; and 2 great grandchildren, Grady and Avery.
