Rev. Charles Daniel “Danny” Walton passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at MS Baptist Hospital in Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, February 5th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Overstreet Cemetery in Florence. Rev. Bill Pettus and Rev. Ed Hauser will officiate. Those serving as pallbearers include: David Kleinhans, Ryan Engel, Jonathan Bates, Harry Bates, Aaron Toles, Coady Baggett, Scott Berryhill, and Phillip Huff. Danny was born Mary 27, 1945 to the late William C. Walton and Willie May Walton in Walnut Grove, MS. He moved from Plain, MS to Florence where he lived most of his life. He loved God and was the founding pastor of Full Gospel Fellowship International. A lifetime musician and gifted singer and musician, Danny served as Worship Leader and Choir Director at several churches. He founded the gospel quartet, The Son Rays and sang with other quartets, including the Way-makers who opened for the Oak Ridge Boys. He was a loving father of seven children and loved his role as Poppy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Danny is also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Brenda Walton; sister, Sandra Elliot; brother, Billy Walton; and his grandson, Christopher Martin. He is survived by his children, Paul Ford of Florence, Duane Walton of Florence, Sherri (David) Kleinhans of Pearl, Debbie (Phillip) Huff of Florence, Beverly (Harry) Bates of Florence, Cindy Martin of Florence, and Rebecca (Ryan) Engel of Florence; his grandchildren, Laura (Aaron) Toles of Florence, Jennifer (Bill) Pettus of Pearl, Lauren (Scott) Berryhill of Pearl, Coady (Audrey) Baggett of Pearl, P.K. (Katie) Huff of Brandon, Lindsay Huff of Florence, Jonathan Bates of Florence, Brandon Martin of Florence, Preston Engel of Florence, Aaron Engel of Florence, P.J. Ford of Florence, Christy Ford of Florence, J.D. Ford of Florence, and Katelyn Ford of Florence; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and numerous friends.
