Dave Berry\ Harrisville\ \ The Celebration of the Life Dave Berry, Sr.\ Born November 16, 1930 to Lillia Mae Neely Berry and J.D. Berry in Harrisville,(both deceased). The second child of a total of three boys, Malone Berry (deceased), Sam Berry (deceased), and a half sister Sylvia Jean Berry Yates. The proud grandson of Harrisville's long time physician Dr. W.N. Neely.\ At the tender age of 18 he met and married his beautiful wife Mary Elizabeth Miller. Everyone knew here as Bettye Berry. Dave's wife of 57 years. Dave and Bettye had two beautiful boys, Dave Berry, Jr. and Donald Ray Berry (deceased). Dave Berry, Jr. and Peggy Cook Berry had his two grandchildren, Angela Berry Hinton and David Scott Berry, known as Scott Berry. Angela Berry Hinton gave birth to his first great grandchild Cody Hinton. Scott and his wife Jamey had another great grandchild, Victoria Berry and are expecting a baby girl in August. \ He is survived by his second wife Brenda Hale Berry. They were only married a year and few weeks, not nearly long enough. He was the step-father of Stacey Vaughn and her husband Tommy Vaughn Wesley Robbins and his lovely wife Tammy. He is also the step-grandfathers (Pop) to Alyssa Franks and Zoey Vaughn.\ Dave worked at the Jackson Fire Department for twenty eight years. He was a favorite dispatcher of many firefighters. The mayor of the city of Jackson, elected for a historic twelve years, Dale Danks remembers the dedication of Dave to Jackson citizens during Hurricane Camille..\ Dave has been a member of Harrisville Baptist Church for thirty years. A deacon for several years. He had the honor of seeing the baptism of his two sons and granddaughter in the Baptist church. He often spoke proudly of these beautiful moments that meant so much to him. It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to this fine man. He was a kind and gracious man and he will be missed more than words can convey. He was a devout Christian man and practiced what he preached. He was a friend to all who knew him. He coordinated the building of the Harrisville Library. He was a contributor to the Jackson's Fallen Firefighters Memorial. \ Visitation will be 3-6pm today, June 28, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and 9-10am Monday at Harrisville Baptist Church prior to the 10am Service at the church.\ Burial will follow at Harrisville Cemetery.\ Online guest book may be signed at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.\ \
