Mr. David Covington

Funeral services for David R. Covington will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at Springridge United Methodist Church in Byram, with the Rev. Rusty White officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Chancellor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Covington, 61, of Byram, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He will be remembered as a talented musician. He had a wonderful radio voice and worked many years, as a radio announcer in Mississippi. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He is a 16 year survivor of cancer. He fought the good fight, he ran the good race and we rejoice for him at his finish line. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Isbell Covington of Byram, Peggy Sue Covington Davis, and her husband, Josh, of Madison, Amber Michelle Covington Cooksey and her husband, Ray, of Meridian; grandchildren, Maddie Gray Davis and Mac Davis, both of Madison; his father, the Rev. Eugene Covington of Laurel, a brother, the Rev. Mark Covington (Kenda) of Ellisville; sisters, Stephanie Denham of Meridian and Melissa Stephens (Danny) of Brandon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Davis Covington of Laurel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.
